I can already give a review. 75/100. Pretty fast with boost past 3k to redline. Pretty impressed by the interior with nice leather and Carplay/Android Auto built in. Steering is electric but alright, BRZ still better, AWD means no torquesteer. A lot of space inside for it’s size.

DCC is the adjustable suspension. I didn’t really care either way for 6MT or DSG, but this was the only dealer willing to do MSRP. Surprisingly surprised by how good it is, given how I hear VW manuals aren’t great.

Honestly exclusivity of the R was part of the attraction. That and with the ridiculous resale value of the R (70% after 3 years) I would pay about the same as a GTI if I decide to sell then.

Yeah, if you aren’t going to be tracking it a bunch, you don’t really need it.
And I forgot how nuts the VW dealers are on marking up the R. You get a really good car with both the MT and the DSG, so you don’t need to worry about it.

From everything I read the comfort mode is the real perk of DCC. I’m fine with how it rides though. I plan on taking it to auto-x and some track days, but I think I’ll be fine since traction control is fully defeatable.

dsg sucks.....its great vw woke up and brought this to the states as the s3 lacking a stick is a tragedy! audi might be the only brand to not offer a stick on their base performance car but does on the upper level performance cars

Not even on the high end performance cars now. New R8 has no stick, TT RS has been discontinued for a couple of years now. S5 and S4 are being discontinued for the new gen that will most likely be DSG only.

Doesn't change the fact that s4 and s5 have it but s3 doesn't. It would be like if bmw made m5 with stick but no m3 with stick

Damn. You took a blue pill! Thought about taking a red one today, dealer wouldn’t do MSRP so I walked out.
I’m going to continue the hunt, I know there has to be someone out there who will do it. It looks like you’re in CA, maybe even in LA?

I am. I got it from Coachella Valley VW, by Palm Springs. They have a red one coming in soon, might even be there already. Very straightforward dealership that didn’t play any games. Ask for Tyler there, he should be able to tell you the options on the R coming in, all I know it’s red.

Yeah there’s a red one at VW Santa Monica too. I don’t want red, but I was thinking about wrapping since it was there. They have a white base coming in so I’m waiting for the call on that.
